AI Governance

AI Governance

Govern Your AI. Prove It to Anyone Who Asks.

AI rules are now live on three continents, and they keep moving. Deadlines shift, new laws arrive, and customers send AI questionnaires before regulators do.

EU

Extraterritorial reach

The EU AI Act applies to companies anywhere whose AI output is used in the EU. Transparency duties already apply; high-risk rules follow in 2027 and 2028.

US

State by state

Colorado, Texas, California, New York and Illinois regulate automated decisions, frontier models and hiring tools, with no federal law to replace them.

India

AI through existing law

The DPDP Act, the 2026 IT Rules on synthetic content and RBI and SEBI expectations all reach AI, with core DPDP duties from May 2027.

Why it matters

Why AI Governance Matters Now

Most organisations cannot list every AI system, model and agent they run, including the AI switched on inside their SaaS tools. Every other duty, from risk assessment to transparency, depends on that list.

The laws also overlap far more than they differ. Inventory, risk classification, impact assessment, notice, human oversight, logging, testing and incident response appear in nearly every regime.

Build those controls once and map them many times, and each new law becomes a mapping exercise instead of a new project.

What we do

What We Help You With

01

AI Inventory & Classification

See every AI system you build, buy and use.

  • Discovery across teams, procurement records, SaaS admin consoles and cloud model endpoints
  • Purpose, owner, data, users affected and vendor recorded for each system
  • Risk tier assigned against the EU AI Act and other high-risk lists
  • Synthetic content features flagged separately

The foundation every other control starts from.

02

Regulatory Applicability

Know exactly which rules reach you, and when.

  • Mapping by country, sector and role: provider, developer or deployer
  • EU AI Act, Colorado, Texas, New York, Korea and India obligations
  • A compliance calendar with every date that applies to you
  • Monitoring as laws change, with updates to your register
03

Policies, Assessments & Oversight

Turn obligations into controls that work.

  • AI policy, accountable owners and an AI risk committee
  • Impact, bias and fundamental rights assessments
  • Human oversight, appeal routes and decision explanations
  • AI disclosure and synthetic content labelling
  • Due diligence and contract clauses for vendor AI
04

Certification & Board Reporting

Show the programme to customers, auditors and the board.

  • ISO 42001 readiness, aligned with your ISO 27001 programme
  • Evidence packs for customer AI questionnaires
  • Board reporting on AI risk, incidents and deadlines
  • Ongoing oversight through our vCISO service

One Control Set, Many Laws

Our AI governance library maps 40 controls to the obligations in the laws, standards and regulator guidelines we track, with crosswalks to ISO 42001, ISO 27001 and SOC 2.

That means you reuse the evidence you already have, and every new law is checked against controls you already run.

Compliance

Frameworks and Laws We Cover

One programme, mapped to the rules your customers and regulators ask about:

  • EU AI Act
  • ISO 42001
  • NIST AI RMF
  • Colorado AI Act
  • Korea AI Basic Act
  • DPDP Act
  • IT Rules 2026
  • RBI FREE-AI

ISO 42001 gives the programme a structure auditors recognise; the legal obligations are mapped onto the same controls.

Who Is This For?

This service is ideal for:

  • Companies selling AI products or AI features into the EU or US
  • Banks, NBFCs, insurers and fintechs under RBI, SEBI or IRDAI expectations
  • HR tech, lending, health and edtech platforms making automated decisions
  • Organisations preparing for ISO 42001 certification
  • Boards that need a clear view of AI risk

Why Choose SecComply?

We track the rules ourselves. Our AI Regulation Tracker covers the laws, standards and regulator guidelines in force or on the way, each with its official source and the date we last verified it.

Governance only works if it reaches the systems. Because the same team runs AI Security, ISO 27001 and vCISO engagements, your policies are backed by technical controls and the evidence comes from the work, not from a binder written for the auditor.

Our Process

How We Deliver

A predictable engagement shape, so you know what happens next however many domains you engage.

Assess

We look at where you stand today, across security, compliance, and AI, and find the gaps that matter most.

Plan

You get a clear roadmap, prioritized by risk and business impact, mapped to the service you need.

Implement

Our specialists do the work, whether that is building your GRC program, securing your AI and its identities, hardening your cloud and applications, or placing a vCISO with your team.

Sustain

We stay on as ongoing support and advisory, so the program holds up as your business and your risk change.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on where you are based, where your users are, your sector and whether you build or only use AI. The EU AI Act reaches companies outside the EU whose AI output is used there, US states such as Colorado and Texas regulate automated decisions, and in India AI obligations arrive through the DPDP Act, the IT Rules and sector regulators such as RBI and SEBI. Our free AI Regulation Tracker shows the full picture by country; an engagement turns it into your specific list.
ISO 42001 is one standard: a certifiable AI management system. AI Governance is the wider programme that also covers the laws and regulator expectations that apply to you. We usually use ISO 42001 as the backbone, because it gives auditors and customers a recognised structure, and then map the legal obligations onto the same controls.
More than most teams expect. Asset inventory, supplier management, logging, incident response and change control all carry over. AI adds new pieces, such as risk classification, impact and bias assessments, human oversight and transparency notices. We start from your ISO 27001 evidence and build only what is missing.
The dates moved, the obligations did not. The EU AI Omnibus pushed the high-risk rules to December 2027 and August 2028, but transparency duties already apply, and building a risk management file, technical documentation and oversight takes most organisations 12 to 18 months. Large customers are also asking for AI governance evidence before any regulator does.
